world domination and poetry....everyone's idea of fun.

Did you hear in Steve's blog that we're getting a bonus episode out soon? Exciting stuff. I am very happy and overwhelmed all at the same time about what we will be doing. Our current plan for world domination includes...

1) possibly adapting Killer Chihuahua! into other forms of media
2) sprucing up the site to make it more interactive
and 3) thinking about our next project (a short film with our script in development)

with all of this on my plate, somehow I still manage to get distracted. Oh well. What can you do? The important part is to remain inspired, even in the middle of confusion.

I am a compulsive poet. When I say compulsive, I mean...when inspiration hits me from a person I see on the street or a beautiful image that pops in my head....I have to find a piece of paper. Immediately. Then, I have to write it all down while I'm in the "flow" of ideas. It is hard sometimes because these ideas seem to come out of nowhere, and leave into nowhere. There have been periods in my life where I go six months without even wanting to write a poem. I know art is better when it isn't forced, but hopefully as time goes on I will come to understand what sparks me creatively.

Usually people watching or going out into nature on a hike is a good idea. Exercise can be good too. When I went to the gym today, I read a book and meditated a bit. The cardio exercise helped to take my mind off of things and clear my thoughts.

The book I am finishing is The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. This book is wonderful for all of you who feel stressed or overwhelmed. Then today I just read Chapter 1 of Bluebeard by Kurt Vonnegut. I can't wait to sink my teeth into it.

Anyhow.....here are some poems from the last few days. Enjoy!

This first one was written when some dying flowers in the kitchen reminded me of war. Usually I stay out of politics, but I felt compelled. Perhaps the presidential election got me going.

the orchids fell off of their branch
just like an avalanche
(all these warnings and cruel ideas...
why didn't I see it?
If only I had known.

A slumbering angel beneath browned daisies,
lazy twilight yellow through the window.
these daisies were Dead long ago. (they are all one.)
still standing, dumb in their defiance,
soldiers stand at attention
stems stiffly hold up nothing,

one wilting orchid left on that bending branch
Though white and youthful,
I can see the brown stain of death as it creeps
so sweetly,
up on him.

too late for he the orchid to know
or grow away

This war of too much sunlight,
and not enough food.
the light plays a trick reflected through glass
spin it the right way Mr. President
grow these seeds up, grow them fat as they fall for your act

It cost him - [what money cannot fix]
he gave his life - and it never ends
but -- what will it cost you?
------

This second one hit me today as I pulled out of my apartment on the way to work...

six empty bottles of Sam Adams
sit in front of a shabby Hollywood triplex
so many stories inside me
which is the one to tell?
"All of them," the wise man said,
(he was dressed in a cowboy outfit,
entertaining tourists for pennies)
"Tell none of them, and you might as well be dead."
